Ambrym Island, 50 AD (VEI 6 +)
Ambryn Island is a volcano on its own as it was the site of one of the most explosive eruptions in earth’s history. It sent out hot ash down its slopes. In the process, a caldera was formed. So powerful was the explosion that the caldera left measured 7 and half miles wide. This happened in 50 A.D. and the VEI scale approximates it at 6+. Until today the volcano continues to explode and is a constant threat to man.
