The giant jellyfish did not get to look this way when it was born. It has a different kind of life cycle. It started out life as a sea creature attached to the sea floor. During the “polyp” stage, it was stationary and relied on the sea currents to bring it food. During the polyp stage the jellyfish reproduce asexually. During the next stage, they are unattached to the sea floor. They can also reproduce sexually. During mating the male and female jellyfishes release sperm and eggs.
