World Record Shortfin Mako Shark (1,221 pounds)
This is a picture of the world record holder for shortfin mako shark. It was caught on July 22, 2001 by Luke Sweeney off of Chatham, MA. It weighed around 1,221 pounds, which surpassed the previous record by more than 100 pounds. The shortfin mako shark comes from the same family as the great white shark.
