In 1986, Frank Mundus again caught a huge shark. This time, he caught a 17-foot long great white shark weighing 3,427 pounds (1,554 kg.), which he caught off Montauk, New York. It took three hours of hard work to land the beast. However, the IGGA disqualified the record for the catch due to a controversy about using a dead whale as bait.
