Taupo Caldera
One of the world’s most beautiful landscapes is the Taupo caldera found in New Zealand. It was the result of an immense explosion 26,500 years ago. It also exploded in 181 A.D., with ash and magma spewed estimated to be 22 cubic miles in volume. The Taupo caldera looks like a lake now, however it continues to be active in the form of hot springs and vents.
