This enormous alligator gar was caught by researchers on the North Escambia River for research and tagging. It was one of several gars caught by the researchers at the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute that they gathered data from, tagged and released back into the water. After three years of studying alligator gars, they have tagged 22, whose sizes ranged from just 11 pounds to as much as 132 pounds.
