Changbaishan Volcano goes also by the name Baitoushan. Its explosion in 1000 AD is estimated at a 7 on the VEI scale. Volcanic debris was thrown to as far as 1,200 kilometers away. The caldera that resulted from the eruption measured 3 miles in diameter and half a mile in depth. Today the caldera is now known as Lake Tianchi and is filled with water. The last eruption was in 1702.
