Ilopango Volcano, 450 AD (VEI 6 +)
The Ilopango Volcano only erupted twice in the past. However, the first explosion was almost unreal in power. The ash, pumice, and smoke that it spewed covered most of the western and central parts of El Salvador. A lot of Mayan cities were flattened because of this. It also had its effect on commerce as roads that traders used became impassable. The Mayans decided to move base northward and Guatemala. Today, the caldera is a beautiful lake.
