It interests visitors and tourists
Sometimes visitors and tourists stop by and look at the ball of twine. When locals like Linda Clover see them, they sometimes pull up and offer twine to the visitors to add to the giant ball. It is an interactive tourist attraction. Visitors from out of town often pass by without knowing anything about the ball of twine. Their curiosity is sated when local residents help them out by explaining with some twine in their hands.
