Unofficial World Record Bull Shark (700 pounds)
In 2007, Ed Maloney was fishing for sharks on the pier of his cousin’s house. Ed had beginner’s luck and after a three-hour struggle, helped by his cousin and his neighbor, he was able to land an 8 feet 10 inches bull shark. The record for catching a bull shark is 697 pounds caught off Kenya in 2001. Unfortunately, the Maloneys did not have any qualified weighing scale, and there was none within the area as well. The bull shark they caught was estimated at 700 pounds in weight.
