Built as a tribute to honor one of its past presidents, Dr. SV Sanford, the stadium can hold up to 92,746 fans at full capacity. Opened in 1929, some of the medal round soccer (world football) games during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics were held here. The University of Georgia Bulldogs football team hosted their games in this venue. Notable artists and celebrities have also come here for concert tours.
